Were-chickens!?!?!
Seriously? LOLforever :D

This does sound kind of awesome, I really must check it out some time (although, to be honest, my to-read list is evening more depressingly large than my to-watch list :/).

(I get the impression from reading McKinley's FAQs on her website that she's also blunt and stubborn and kind of a bitch. Maybe a case of the author's personality informing her characterisation :D).

I wouldn't say I'm a connoisseur of vampire literature either, but I certainly like reading about the occasional tall, dark, bitey stranger, so :). I even forced my way through the first Twilight book and didn't mind it too much (mostly I read it because I liked the film, because Alice is cute, the baseball scene was fun, and the scenery was pretty. FOR I AM SHALLOW. OH YES :P). I couldn't bear the thought of reading the others though, so I tracked down a novel length Alice/Bella story (by fembuck) and read that instead. They spend like 300 pages being adorable and having lots of really hot sex. It's fun :D ( ... )

Yes, were-chickens, among other were-animals. Apparently wolves are the most common, but you can be a were-anything, lol.

Yeah, I haven't done much research on her, but her heroines are somewhat similar in personality, it might be safe to assume there's a bit of herself in there :) Definitely give it a read when you find the time.
