Random Essay #4: Bullshitted Canon
On Bullshitting Canon
Yeah, so since I've been doing this a lot lately, I should probably explain why. |D
Anyway, while Fake is complete and has been for a while, it is still a short series and has very few basic canon facts for the characters, like height, weight, birthdays, stuff like that. And just to kick me in the ass, stuff like this has been popping up in camp, so I gotta bullshit. And a lot of this stuff I pull out of nowhere, especially depending on how serious conversations get.
One of the few things I do have to go from is height. It is only mentioned once how tall a character is, and that would be Bikky in Like Like Love, the FAKE sequel. So with that, I had to guess on just how tall Dee was, which was how I got around 6'. And if you get rid of the heels (shut up) - if he's even wearing them in the picture - he's around 5'10'' -5'12''.
Another thing that I've been pulling out of my ass is Dee's past relationship. Canon sez Dee has dated women in the past, but it isn't said if or when he's dated men or not. I haven't had to say anything about it in camp yet, but from canon and Dee's personality, he's probably dated some guys, though I'd say it's a fairly recent, as opposed to him dating women. I'm not even going to get into specifics into this because ahaha, I suck at that kind of stuff. So instead, here's some links of fantastic bullshitting: Talking to Ray about a past girlfriend.
But the biggest problem I've run across in recent days is birthdays. All we know about Dee in canon is that he was found in an alleyway when he was a baby by Jess Latener. No date, no nothing. So the way I've been playing it is that Dee's "birthday" - October 23, which I came up with after researching into horoscopes like a winnar |D - is the day that Jess found Dee. And even then, it's not quite accurate, because we don't know how old Dee was when he was found. The only picture we're given is too small to really tell, but I'd say at least a couple months, which gives room for fiddling.
Unfortunately, I have no way to actually find out. Manga and OVA don't do anything, and the ever elusive Drama CDs, for all I know, might contain this information. Which is a real kick in the ass. :/
