Random Essay #5: Ryo And The Point From Which He Came.

So, Ryo has arrived in camp. Yay iiiiit's my boyfriiiiiiieeeeeeend~

...eeexcept for the fact that Ryo comes from a point in canon that Dee's long ahead of. Time-wise, we're not sure how much time has passed between that point and the end of the manga, where Dee's from. Guessing on it would be a few months, but. I'll probably go through and actually figure it out sooner or later.

Anyway. When Dee talked to Ryo, Dee found out just what had happened back home, and he's...aI don't know. When Dee came to camp, Ryo and he had finally gotten together. And that was really important to him, because Dee really does care about Ryo, despite how he acts like a horny bastard most of the time.

Here, have a quote from the end of Volume 4 (right after Ryo comes, even): "I admit at first I was just joking around with him since he was so damn uptight but -- Now that I've spent time with him, I'm finally beginning to see the truth about him. What he's really like. Geez, at some point, before I even knew I was doing it...I began to pray he'd stay close to me forever. I want to be with him. I want to walk with him every step of the way. But I want him to want me." (Volume 4, Act 13). This pretty much sums up Dee's real feelings for Ryo at a point where Ryo's just beginning to understand his own feelings for Dee. And it's pretty obvious that these feelings grow the further the manga progresses.

So it's safe to say that Dee is just a little upset. Of course he's happy beyond belief, too; Ryo's here, which is what he wanted. He knows Ryo's okay, and he doesn't have to worry anymore or anything like that. But everything they went through volume 5 (Ryo's backstory), Dee's not sure how to exactly handle things. Especially with the case with Leo and Ryo's family.

Of course, he'll eventually end up telling Ryo everything, because Ryo deserves to know. He's just...not sure how he'll do it. Possibly, he'll wait for Ryo to ask about things, and he'll answer truthfully, but. Things with the Leo case will be difficult and Dee will probably avoid it is much as possible.

...of course, there's other factors in camp kind of...messing with Dee's head right now.

Like Pell. Dee and Pell aren't together in the sense of a relationship; but calling them friends is too loose a term to use, because...they're more than friends. But for someone who doesn't know that, and who sees the way they act, it could be interpreted that they are together, which...in the long run, is kinda bad, especially if Ryo were to see them. But Dee doesn't want anything to change, because he likes the relationship he has with Pell. There's more on that here, over in Pell's journal.

There's also the random kissing Dee's done since being in camp, which...while it doesn't bother him at the moment, as they didn't mean anything and many of them were influenced by the mistletoe, Ryo finding out about them...well, Dee's not sure how Ryo would react, but he doesn't want to have to find out.

So, yeah. Things are Complicated and Awkward, Dee doesn't want things to change, but he wants Ryo to know everything, and there's no clear way of going about doing that. He's almost wary of telling Ryo that they're together in his time, because...well, he has no way to prove it. It would just be his word, and...that isn't enough.

So it's safe to say that Dee won't be acting a lot like himself until he thinks these things out and comes up with a solution that, in the end, will fix everything, or at least, come close to it.
