It was just a neighbourhood event, but it was so fun and winning a category still feels pretty cool. Maybe we should get together and do a smaller, Fatty version?
The whole dildo thing was actually kind of humiliating. I felt like I was being outed as straight. The weird part was that this is a person who has known me for years and known some of my former girlfriends. But of course now that I'm partnered with a cisdude I must not use toys anymore, and I also must have completely forgotten what they are!
Seriously. I know a lot of straight people with full toy boxes, so I don't really get the need to school me. Not to mention OH HAI, I'M NOT STRATE!!eleventyone!
I wish you would have come to the show last night and been reinvigorated by the Vancouver Queers. Some of us are rad and on it and fun and punk rock! I had a lot of fun and felt totally welcome and comfortable, which doesn't always happen at Queer Van events. Sadly, we still need to deal with accessibility issues! Apparently the Outpriders was pretty fantastic too. As far as actual Pride, no thanks. I would have liked to see the sexy chicken float and the ferris bueller float but alas I was stuck at work. It's also so insanely corporate. Gay Shame all the way! Give yer Queer community another chance tho. Lot's of people have moved here recently and there's more of us good ones these days and amazing events are starting to happen.
I was just reading back through some of my old lj posts and saw comments from you, and realized: you're one of the people whose absence makes lj a lesser place. I hope you're doing well and wish you all the best, wherever you are and wherever you're writing about it.
