Oh America. My Monday morning just went spiraling down the Yahoo.  It is my morning routine to check e-mails, check LJ, check FB, putz around kind of mindlessly before facing the daunting challenge that is getting dressed in the morning.  It is a delicate period, the morning, and what happens pre-coffee determines so much of what happens post- ( Read more... )

cara and i were driving home last night, listening to the radio, and one of the (oakland-based) stations was discussing this article and i had the exact.same.response: McCain is going to win this election. and then i panicked a bit and proceeded to spend the rest of the night thinking about what the national response from those of us who do not vote for/support McCain could/should be if McCain wins and if i should start trying to organize it now.

further, i started to freak out about the future and what i was going to do with my life because if things are this bad (at which point i also had a heart/brain tug-of-war) then why even bother trying to fight/counter/educate about oppression, etc. i mean, seriously.

Coco, I think those examples are pretty good for teaching actually. In my experience, examples about privilege need to be pretty, uh, clear cut for privileged people to accept them, and of course that doesn't always work either.

I have the same problem of clicking on news articles that I shouldn't (see my most recent lj post). I usually have to decompress by reading sex advice or news about unusual animals.

I am pretty convinced McCain is going to win, which scares me and saddens me and, well, yeah.
