So, how freaky would it be hanging out with a psychic/telepath?
Very. I mean "Don't think of porn. Pooorrrn. Fuck! Don't think of your brother that way. Argh! I don't! I don't normally! Just that time... and that time... and that time... Oh fuck. Think of something else. Pink elephants. White horses. Porn that *isn't* your brother. Ummm. That chick at the last cafe. *siiigh*."

"Damn, I could really do with a beer..." Dean sighed as he lay down on the bed.
Sam sat up. He hadn't really been helping Dean out much recently.
"Hey, how 'bout I go pick us up some, from the 7/11?"
Dean stiffened on the bed, and stared at him, then said slowly, "Sam, I didn't say that out loud."
Sam stopped, and then stared at the floor, guiltily. "Oh."
Dean lay back on the bed with a sigh "We've really got to do something about that..." *before I think something you shouldn't hear* he finished mentally.
The distinction was a bit clearer this time, but it just made Sam more nervous if anything, that it was getting that easy. And more eager to get away. "Great. I... look. I'll go pick us up some beer and dinner. I could really do with something to drink."
Deans brow furrowed, "Does it help?"
Sam shrugged, "I think it stops me hearing. Tones it down a bit".
Dean relaxed minutely, before his jaw tightened, "But what about the dreams? There's - there's people we can help Sammy..."
Sammy looked up, his eyes begging, "Just for a night, Dean. I just need a little break."
Dean nodded, relief and guilt warring in his expression.
**Earlier**
In a bar, Sam thought "Nice ass..." as a girl went past, and then realised that wasn't his thought.
**Earlier**
Sammy stepped out of the car feeling hot and sore in the afternoon sun, and stretched, and his mind was suddenly filled with an image of golden sunlight, shining of warm tanned skin, muscled arms, and curling brown hair, against a shining black car, as grass waved in the summer sun. It was a guy, but he was beautiful, with wide cheeks and soft lips on a strong jaw. It took him a moment to realise it was himself.
Was this how Dean saw him?
He looked around, feeling like he'd been in a fog. He was suddenly aware of how beautiful the day was, after seeing it through his brother's eyes. He turned curiously to Dean, but he'd turned away and was looking through the car.
Just as well, Dean would probably have freaked out if he'd thought Sam had heard something. Which technically, he hadn't this time.
***Earliest***
"Hey, it's not so bad" Sam grinned weakly, "It's not like you don't tell me everything I never wanted to hear anyway...".
Dean looked back, and gave a small smile, but it never reached his eyes, which were as shuttered as his mind, "Yeah, sure..." and gave a little laugh.
Sam felt a small knot grow in his stomach.
