almost. they had 8 people get crushed to death at a concert in Denmark back in summer 2000. They ended the tour early, and when they went out again in the fall, they began a 100% no general admission and no standing-room/pit seating policy, which they still stand by (they won't even play multiple-band festival shows if they have standing room or gen admission seating). Everyone knows PJ's no-ticketmaster-based show policy, but to combat resellers so that fans can still be in the front, every concert since the seating policy went into effect has the best seats sold through the fan club, which are given out in order of when you joined.
The thing that could be considered either ironic or suspicious is that Pearl Jam (or Eddie and Mike, specifically) have always considered The Who (or Pete Townshend specifically) to be their hero.....
