I believe that the mechanism is in the power supply...a breaker that auto-resets, but just takes "awhile" to reset, to protect against unusual occurrances without requiring servicing (but having the unfortunate effect of taking electronics out of commission for "awhile." I had a set of expensive speakers that, when I called with a similar issue, they told me to call them again if it hasn't fixed itself in 48 hours. Perhaps it is literally related to a "cool down"?
That's interesting, I had no idea such a thing existed. I suppose it makes sense to reduce damage, but I'm surprised if never run into it myself, or at least heard of it before. Definitely a useful piece of information to store away to prevent panic in the future.
