i know some of the stuff thats in closer, and i think if nicole is legal age to see this film, she should have everyright to...if the ratingsboard did not think it was suitable for 17 year olds, then they wouldn't have rated it R, now would they? Getting into R rated movies is a right that comes with being a 17 year old, though its not really that hard to see an R rated movie before youre seventeen though i mean you talk to the ticketpeople long enough and your in, and lets not even mention blockbuster, you can rent most every movie. So, i dont think her rights hould be restricted, honestly weve heard most of the stuff in the film, and i have heard that it is a fine piece of film with a great cast. A film is a form of art, are you the kind of person who wishes to cloth David because you dont like male nudity?

Nope. I'm not the kind of person who would want to cloth David because he's nude. However, if the statue was of David having sex, then you can see where there would be a difference. Just because I'm old enough to see the movie, I've heard the language before, I could talk my way into the movie, I could rent it from Blockbuster, and some group of people in Hollywood who I've never met have decided that the film is acceptable for me, doesn't mean I should buy a ticket and stroll in. There are other things to consider, such as, does this movie fall in line with my values and beliefs? Would seeing this movie be a positive experience or a negative one. I agree that SOME "R" rated movies could be acceptable. I think one day Nicole will thank her Mom for caring enough to want to review the movie first. Maybe not anytime soon...but.. :) However, this movie is not the masterpiece of "David" as you purport it to be. Just because it has some name brand stars in it doesn't mean it has value. You are falling prey to cultural ( ... )

"However, if the statue was of David having sex" hahahhahahaha

first the burning question? arent you a little old for livejournla in the first place? but thats another topic for another day.

I never said it was a masterpiece like David, i myself dont personally want to see it and i know casts dont make the film , i recently rented a documentary "this so-called disaster" with sean penn, nick nolte, and others and it was total shit. In fact, i rarely see movies for the cast. I dont know if nicole will ever thank her mom for screening the movie, but you can be sure that i am thankful that my parents are so open and let me watch some great films and dont hold me back because they are "R"...if they held me to that, i would miss out on a lot of things. One more thing, nicole never said she didnt see the film did she? she can easily go see it if she wants to...she is legal age...

A Movie Review anonymous December 30 2004, 13:19:18 UTC
i did see closer and you didn't miss a thing. you should thank your mom for saving you the dough. half the theatre left in the middle of it. it was about people having sex with whoever they pleased, even though they never showed that part, and strippers dancing in the background and the characters only cared about themselves. i heard it was a play at one time and i dont think it translated well to film. so even if you don't care about moral stuff, it was a dumb film. i chuckled maybe twice before we left. went next door and saw finding neverland. i know, it sounds gay, but it was really very good. --you don't know me from Adam, but I'm Michael
