I've lost weight!

In my last update, I forgot to mention my weight loss journey. I'm down to 430 pounds, as of my last appointment with the nurse practitioner with the surgeon's clinic on July 24th. I haven't weighed myself since that day, so I might have lost more since then, but my next appointment is September 6th.

I'm starting to see the weight loss, finally. ( Read more... )

That's so awesome! Congratulations! My weight loss has been very slow, although I have lost at least 20 lbs since January. What kinds of things are you doing to work on your goal?

Late reply is late. Sorry, life's been hectic, lol.

I've been doing small things mostly. Changing eating habits by concentrating on low-carb, high protein like my nurse practitioner suggests. Also been trying to move around more since my "preferred" movement status is stationary and that isn't a good thing. Because of my size and my chronic pain, I can only manage light exercises that they've assigned at physical therapy, so my progress has been slower than I'd like. It's taken me a year to get from 475 down to below 430... but they say slow and steady wins the race, so I hope that's true.

I'm the queen of late replies, obviously. Lol

When I went to my doctor earlier this week, she also agreed slow weight loss is the best way, more sustainable. I totally forgot I had looked up my weight from January and was shocked when she said I've lost 19 lbs according to their scale and visit notes. Tells you how great my memory is.

Have you tried chair yoga? Since I hurt my foot, I can't do much weight baring stuff, so I tried a video from YouTube the other day. It's not bad, I just miss the high intensity cardio!
