Public Log 001-01B

Sortied in space. Performance was acceptable, though with much room for improvement. Further tweaks can be performed to unit and flight data.

However, I find it perplexing that the pilots tend to speak to their enemies. They are our foes. They should be shot down as quickly and efficiently as possibly.

A true Nonoriri always speaks from her heart, even to an enemy!

Nonoriri?

I can't agree with that. If I can stop some pointless bloodshed by making some other guy come to his senses, you'd better believe that's the path I'm gonna take.

That is what negotiations are for, correct?

You can't negotiate if you can't convince the other side to come to the table. And you can't always do that with video feeds from each other's war rooms.

Then perhaps the other party was not keen on negotiations in the first place.

In an ideal combat situation, the enemy should be eliminated before they are even aware of the EDF's presence on the battlefield.

That is ideal, but... unlikely to achieve with the pilots we have.

It's almost a miracle that we've performed as well as we have so far.

I have performed some rudimentary analysis. One factor could be that our units tend to be superior in some manner.

It's not always that simple, Miss Lamia. Some of us feel that we should give the enemy a chance to change their mind about fighting and retreat. Or, in this case, we might be fighting against people we know or care about.

That has merit. Perhaps commanders should give them a chance to surrender before we engage? If the battle has been committed, then they are enemies to be shot down and capture.

You'd think so, but it provides a lot of context... Context in the sorts of situations where it's sorely lacking.

Why is the context needed?

You'll have to excuse my answering a question with a question, but have you ever had the pleasure of dealing with a giant stuffed animal rampaging through Tokyo proper? No?

No, I have not.
