Calling it "irrational" is letting the perps off lightly. "Stupid" is more like it. If they want to change his attitude, then they need to prove him wrong on the battlefield. Stunts like that will only prove him right.

It is not entirely stupid. They did manage to pull it off without getting caught.

However, I do believe that the probability of his attitude changing to be low.
