Even though I rarely (if ever) give feedback, I want you to know that I read your lj. :)

I understand what you mean about myspace. I HATE scrolling through countless surveys and pictures that take forever to load; not to mention the aggravation of profile songs automatically starting when you pull up the profile. However, I do think myspace may be a very useful tool (more so than livejournal) for keeping in touch with old friends on a more social level while you are living in the UK.
