George Carlin died today.He was my first favorite comedian. In elementary school I used to sneak into my oldest brother's room and listen to his Carlin cassettes. I might've waited til middle school for Pryor

I was shocked to hear this. I really liked him too. My first real exposure to him however was a book I bought that he wrote called Brain Droppings. There is no one quite like him

Bummer. Great comedian, truly. I watched his early 70s HBO special pretty recently. Enjoy that "heavenly CNN", George. ;p

totally unexpected, heard it almost firsthand on the radio last night around 11. i grew up on carlin too, hearing his (edited) stuff on dr demento when i was about 10. my favorite was always "the icebox man". and of course there were always the detractors who were all "oh, the obscenities", but you know what? LIFE IS OBSCENE. THE MAN SPOKE THE TRUTH.
