Shh, I'm not really here, I'm supposed to be getting ready for Christmas Eve. Just put the last of the presents under the Christmas tree, the "pinnekjøtt" (literally: stick meat; a traditional Norwegian Christmas dinner) is already cooking and this morning I watched Three Gifts for Cinderella with my brother and mother, a holiday classic that ( Read more... )

*giggle*+*psst* I'm not here either but I can hardly ever resist leaving a comment for you.

Thank you for the greetings!!(strangly enough I can even see the pictures as the interwebz at my parent's house is as unreliable as a Ferengi on drugs. Will check them later.)

However: Merry Christmas again and again :)

XDXD

Awwww, you are such a sweetheart!
I'm glad to hear that you've got internet access at least (did you borrow a laptop from work?)!

Hope you are having a wonderful holiday, dear!!

Sorry for my late answer bb!
I did borrow the work laptop - but then, I'm still at my parent's place where the internet access is also still awful...

Sending a big hug!

Merry Christmas! I...am here, but that's because I'm having Christmas a day late, so the preparations are pushed back a bit as well. I've got to go decorate the cake and start cooking though :D

Funnily enough, I saw Pinnekjøtt being made on TV over here yesterday :D

Have a brilliant Christmas weekend!

Merry Christmas to you too!

Wow, they showed how to make pinnekjøtt on TV in another country?? Was it a show about weird food from strange countries? ;) I know quite a few non-Scandinavians who have tasted pinnekjøtt and almost all of them hated it, haha.

It's a show with a couple of TV cooks called the Hairy Bikers (because they are bearded and drive around on motorbikes...) and they're pretty awesome. They've been doing a series where they go round getting family recipes from Mums all around Britain, and that involves looking at all the different cultures and traditions within Britain as well! So this was a Christmas themed one, and there was the pinnekjøtt from a Scandinavian woman (also some almond ring tier cake thing, but I can't remember what it was called...) and also coconut samosas from another family - a real melting pot!

Oooh, that sounds like an awesome show!

I had to think really hard about what that almond ring tier cake thing might have been, but I just had an epiphany and I'm guessing that what she made was something called "kransekake" that looks something like this:
