Eeeeeee!! I FINALLY got to watch Jane Eyre last night!! Overall the movie was mediocre, but Jamie Bell - omg you guys! - Jamie was AMAZING!!! His take on St. John Rivers was pretty different than what I've seen in other adaptations of the novel and I loved it!

Argh! This wonderful post makes me want to see it so bad! I somehow managed to miss it during the whopping two weeks it played here in the States, so I get to wait for it to appear on the internet (which seems like it'll never happen, cry) or DVD. I've only ever seen the old version of the movie, and now I may poke around for the BBC miniseries...

Sigh, I need Jamie's St. John in my life!

I don't get why this movie has hardly been released anywhere!! It's like they are trying to keep it secret or something! And yeah I think this is the first time ever where I haven't been able to find a copy online even after searching for months. I JUST WANT EVERYONE TO TALK ABOUT HOW AWESOME JAMIE WAS BUT THEY HAVE TO RELEASE THE MOVIE EVERYWHERE FIRST.

I definitely recommend the BBC miniseries. I think it was a very good adaptation and Ruth Wilson and Toby Stephens were fabulous as Jane and Rochester.

IKR?? I JUST. DON'T. GET. IT. Lots of up-and-coming actors in a new adaptation of a well-known period drama - WHY ISN'T THIS MOVIE BEING PROMOTED EVERYWHERE AT THE SAME TIME?? AND WHERE DID THEY HIDE ALL THE COPIES OF THE MOVIE?? They are probably buried in a chest at the bottom of the sea, guarded by dragons.

YES YES YES. I LOVE THIS RECAP. I didn't like St. John in the book, but he was far more sympathetic in this movie and I was all OMFG STAY WITH HIM AND MARRY HIMMMMM.

and yeah, Mia Wasikowska's Jane was pretty bland.. If I hadn't read the book I probably would've been trying to figure out why everyone loved her so much (and why we're supposed to love her too)

:DD Yay I am glad you agree! St.John was so much likeable the way Jamie played him than he is in the novel, and I WISH JANE HAD STAYED WITH HIM. THEY SHOULD HAVE LOTS AND LOTS OF SEX AND MAKE ADORABLE BABIES. AAAAHH I NEED FIC.

Yes yes!! Bland! That is exactly the right word for it. I usually think Mia Wasikowska is great, but her portrayal of Jane did not ring true for me at all, sadly.

Hahaha I was actually really happy that Jamie got as many scenes as he did because I hadn't expected more than a few scenes towards the end of the movie and I was pleasantly surprised when he showed up at the start of the film. Hahaha well I'm sure you'll be happy with all of the Rochester scenes!

Hahaha I'm gonna stick to shipping Jane/St.John I think. They make a hot couple!
