Aww how disappointing that you have to wait until Christmas! I really hope their marketing strategy works out and that the European release generates enough buzz that the film becomes a huge success in America as well. Lol I really want them to make another one (which they should then release simultaneously worldwide!)

Heh that is true. I am thrilled that I had to wait less than a week for Tintin. Jane Eyre was released over here four months after the US premiere and it looks like I will have to wait at least two months for Man on a Ledge in the spring :/

Fingers crossed! They definitely set up for a sequel...

YAY! A good review!! Some critics are saying they are disappointed and i got a bit sad that they couldn't pull it off.

I remember watching Beowulf and liking the motion capture thing with that so I don't have anythign against the technology, it really is about the story. I hope i get a chance to see this, gotta pull myself away from the books :p

What? I thought reviews had been mostly positive?!
I definitely think they pulled it off - the movie felt like a classic Tintin adventure to me and I can't wait to rewatch it!

Yeah, I agree that the story is the most important thing, but I sometimes find that the 3D effects draws too much attention to themselves and distracts from the story. Also, 3D sometimes makes my eyes hurt.

I keep hearing about 3D hurting people's eyes or the glasses being annoying. I don't like it either. The effects are never as cool as the producers seem to think they'll be.

Man i really miss the cartoons though!

Yeah one of my friends did complain that the 3D hurt her eyes when we were watching Tintin as well, but I didn't feel any differently than during a regular 2D movie. The glasses are incredibly annoying if you are already wearing glasses yourself.
The effects are never as cool as the producers seem to think they'll be.
THIS OMG. Sometimes I think the ads in 3D before the film starts have better effects than the movie itself.

The cartoons were AWESOME! I just rewatched all of them in anticipation of the movie release and man they are so good! The film is not that different than the cartoons - both are very much true to Tintin canon, I think.

WHY DOES IT SCARE YOU?
IT WAS REALLY REALLY GOOD. AND I THOUGHT IT DID ALL THE CHARACTERS JUSTICE (but I wish Professor Calculus had been in it too)

I'm looking forward to seeing this! Hope I manage to find a 2D showing somewhere in the vicinity of my hometown though, I can't stand 3D.

Yay! I'm not a fan of 3D either but this is the first movie I have seen in 3D where the 3D effects haven't bothered me in the least so I guess that is progress.
I really think every cinema should give the viewers a choice between 2D and 3D - some people even get sick from 3D effects!
