Character personality:
Described as both "kind" and "nosy," Belgium is the embodiment of a nation with an older sister's well-intentioned meddling nature -- she's the heart of Europe, the headquarters of the EU, and very very curious, so she makes it her job to know everything about everyone, and puts such "third party" knowledge to use when she feels it would be helpful and beneficial. She's sweet as chocolate and twice as practical, and no matter what she does to manipulate her friends, it's always because she means well. It's also quite easy for her to find things out, of course, because as much as she interferes, Belgium is always friendly and otherwise easygoing.

Being cheerful and kind and unassuming, however, doesn't make her a doormat: crossing her is not an experience to be taken lightly, because while she isn't physically as fit as many of her neighbors and she's determinedly neutral, her anger is still a fearsome beast, and it's always advised to avoid setting it off. Her triggers tend to be things like comparing her to her brother, or saying she cannot handle herself, or invading her to get to France, all of which are typically easy to avoid!

Considering the neighbors she has been surrounded with, she has something of a broad definition of "unusual," able to regard the strangest things with a preternaturally serene and indulgent outlook. With a history like hers, too, it's no surprise that Belgium is very independent-minded and hard-working, and she's developed a fearsome talent for compromise and leadership. Unfortunately, such abilities don't extend towards her own government: it's in something of a disaster, which causes no end to her grief and migraines. She can be laid up for days at a time while her Parliament members start butting heads, but she hates to show any weakness, so she barrels through and keeps herself as optimistic as she can.
