So....I went to this over a month ago now, but have been too crazy busy to post.
Thus you have the long awaited, and somewhat anticipated:
The concert was at the Phillip's Arena next to where Josh works, so we went down there and had dinner in the food court beforehand. It was raining and I had just come down with vertigo AGAIN, but I was determined to enjoy myself in spite of these minor hang ups.
Oh and I did. I got seats way up far away, but that was OK cause they had the big screens where you could see them playing their pianos.
They both came on stage and spent the first half hour singing each other's songs. They would trade off singing the verses and both sing the chorus.
After the first half hour Billy Joel went away and Elton John played for an hour. He played ALL of my favorite songs by him and was very sweet and introduced his band members.
After that Billy Joel came back and Elton John went away. Billy Joel also played for an hour. I consider my life that much closer to complete because I got to hear him sing Songs from an Italian Restaurant, Only the Good Die Young and We Didn't Start the Fire LIVE. He played many other songs that are my favorites, but those 3 were especially awesome. He also introduced his band, one member of which was an amusing sassy black woman who played everything from the sax to the harmonica. She was incredible. During We Didn't Start the Fire he threw his microphone stand up in the air. The first couple of times he caught it and then he dropped it. I was like, man Billy Joel's sound guys are gonna kill him cause he's gonna break all the mics. He's SUCH a spaz! Also he was more interactive with the audience. He played "Georgia State of Mind" for fun, much to the amusement of all the attendants. His piano was on a part of the stage that spun in circles! He was playing while his piano was spinning. He kept telling jokes to the crowd and stuff. It was really cool.
After that Elton John came back, in a different outfit and funky glasses from his original outfit with funky glasses, and they played together for ANOTHER half hour singing each other's songs again.
It was a 3 hour concert. They ended with Goodbye Norma Jean and Piano Man. At the end of Piano Man they stopped playing and Billy Joel got up and directed the crowd as we all sang the last chorus together a capella. It was an awesome moment.
There was a dicey bit in the middle where I had seated us in the wrong seats by mistake, but we moved and I apologized to all the people concerned so it ended well.
Despite my vertigo I was able to enjoy it. Best concert EVER.
