...I know I'm about a year late to the party on this one, but are Teh Australian and I the only people in the world who didn't like Heath Ledger's Joker? I mean, good acting and all, just...not how I picture him. Aaron Eckhart, on the other hand, was exceptional. I should probably have rewatched Batman Begins first, though ( Read more... )

We're flying into Dublin, picking up the car at the airport at eleven p.m. on Friday night and then driving straight down to West Cork. But, y'know, we could be persuaded to stop off for a coffee in Dublin, if people were around..?

That's a long Warpcon holiday. :)

And, yeah, will probably be around, but Jesus, that's a long drive, even with the new roads and I will see you for lots of the following weekend, so I'll more than understand if you want to head off.

Facebook is stupid until you refine what it you use it for. As an event-and-photo sharing tool it is pretty solid. For everything else, it makes me want to hunt down the designers.

As for the Batman movie, much as I'd like to just tell you you're plain wrong, the Joker is a character that possibly more than any other causes people to have wildly differing views on how he should be portrayed. My own definition of the Joker comes a book of short stories I read a very long time ago, and every representation in graphic novel or video form has twisted and warped that definition slightly. Ledger's Joker is an excellent portrayal of how I see the character, which is why I loved it so much. Each to their own though.

I didn't really like Heath Ledger's Joker either. He was convincingly bugfuck, but he wasn't funny enough for my taste.

I like it when the Joker cannot resist a gag to the point where it interferes with his effectiveness as a criminal mastermind.
