Oh weekend, the time is too short!

I finished The House of Mirth today. Perhaps it would have been better to save it for the night instead. The ending was truly depressing and had me rather out of sorts for the rest of the day. Next time I read a Wharton novel I'll be sure to do so when the effects won't be so invasive to my other tasks (i.e. school). I also blame the plot bunny ( Read more... )

RUUUUUUUTH GO LOOK AT THE SHINEE THAT IS MY LAYOUT!! /end capslock

Ruthie, I love you and cuddles and squishes and courage! Math will not defeat you yet! BUt I know what you mean. I totally got owned by those estimation skills the Kracker book was attempting to show us. I thought "estimation? but...I have calculator as my third attached brain! YOU CAN'T PART US! I'll DIE!"...just like when you left me at the Tomas Rivera centre to the jaws of biochemistry. D8

By the way, I never noticed how verbose you are. *.* You speak well already, but your writing is awesome! I cannot wait to read that fanfic! (and why do my entries sound just as retarded as the way I speak! D8)

I don't know when you changed your layout, but it's pretty. I wish mine did awesome coloring like that...hm maybe it does and I just don't know it yet. O_o

That means you'll be really screwed for the mcat cause you'd only be using 1/3 of your brain o_O See, it's for cases like this that they should let us take it in pairs. Then again I think we'd fail anyway - there are SO MANY smart people!!!! I wanna be supersmart too ( ... )

Hm yes, after all, if two smart people got together, we'd be right back at square one. Gah, life is just out to get us. Though it'd be nice to be smarter, I think I like my level of intelligence...I just wish there weren't so many really smart people in life......that I have to compete with. I need them to make the world better, but I just don't want them to take my opportunities away. :( I'm so selfish.

Hm. well, I mean, you obviously sounded slightly irritated, but the words you chose were concise and you sounded really sophisticated. Not that you aren't, but you know what I mean. It wasn't boring at all!! The flow of your ideas were easy to catch too. I don't think it sounds dry, but it feels like I'm reading some kind of 19th century novel. Or something. O_o You know, like proper and elegant and intelligent and stuff. <--wow Mai, you sound so smart yourself :is shot: I'm glad you don't think I sound like a retard! I do try to make my comments/writing sound informal without being stupid, but I think I fail sometimes.... ( ... )

Nah, I'm sure all people think like that to one extent or another, some more than others.

Oh, I'm relieved you think so. I worry that I sometimes don't evoke enough emotions in my writing and that I'll be the only one to understand it. The style reflects Wharton's I guess since I tend to be influenced by what I'm reading at the time.

Don't worry about not sounding formal - this is LiveJournal - key word being JOURNAL and who writes coherently in journals? Ok well I don't but I know there are some exceptional writers out there who do. But that's besides the point. It's your writing and you can do it however you want ( ... )
