okay so Valentine's Day brings about all sorts of helpful surveys and whatnot about how certain types of relationships make you happier than others. what it takes to make a happy relationship. how an unhappy relationship effectively feels like it costs you lots of money.

what about not being in a relationship? how happy are you supposed to be then?

Depends. I know a bunch of people who are far, far happier not being in relationships. I don't know whether that's the people they've been involved with or just the way they are, but it doesn't really matter. They're just happier single.

For most of the times I've been single I've been pretty happy with life as a whole. I'm also happy being in a relationship now, but it mostly didn't bother me when I wasn't in one.
