Not that I am asking you that. This is LJ; I am asking myself that.

Aunt Ann. My mom's older sister. She died today, of a sudden heart attack (apparently). She has (had) lived in an assisted living facility for that last several years, since Granny (her mother) died. Though she was the older sister, ... She was, essentially, mentally retarded. ( Read more... )

Death is hard. Take your reaction as it comes. Don't feel the need to be or do anything other than what comes naturally; no one death is like another, and your mourning process is your own, no matter what form it takes and no matter what anyone else says. My condolences, Daiv.

As said, there is no "right" way to mourn. There may be acceptable ways to perform mourning for your family, but... you process the way you process. Assigning "right" or "wrong" to one's own emotions is rarely helpful, I find.
