Tutorial: Veronica Mars

I'm using PS CS 2.





Start out with your base, cropped to 100x100. This image is from Veronica-Mars.Org



Duplicate your base and set the duplicated layer to Screen, 100% opacity.



Duplicate your base image again and move the duplicate above the screened layer. Desaturate this layer and set it to Soft Light, 100% opacity.



Merge your layers together so far by creating a new layer and pressing Ctrl+Alt+Shift+E. Then Unsharp Mask (Filters >> Sharpen >> Unsharp Mask) at about 70%.




Create a new layer and place this gradient at Soft Light, 100%.




Create a new layer and place this gradient at Multiply, 60%.




Create a new layer and fill with a creamy bright yellow (#fff799), set at Multiply, 20%.




Create a new layer and place this gradient at Color Burn, 100%.




Create a new layer and place this texture by noctuidae at Multiply, 100%. Erase the part off of Veronica's face.



Add your text: 'Mars' at 8px in Polaroid 22, rotated approx. -4.6°.
