Eeeeeeehhhhh

Why is it that I'm now afraid of the seemingly harmless word "weft"

I may have need of it in the near future, and the fact that I don't know much about the term makes me frightened.

Aw, well.

Well, it's my understanding .... that a "weft" or "wefting" is attaching single strands of hair, or material onto a strip. That is done so that you can then either sew or hot glue a single piece onto what you want to have hair or whatever, instead of doing it a strand at a time.

Or....something.

I'm not entirely sure. ;)

In these instances I like to turn to Urban Dictionary:

http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=weft

They've got a peer-review system in there to help alleviate that problem, though. You can tell when a definition is actually the common usage when it's got significantly more up-votes than down-votes.

...of course, by that metric neither of the two definitions there are actually what "weft" means. So... no real reason to worry about it, I don't think.
