I remember two years ago when I drew things, my drawings were all incredibly stiff. I mean, yeah, the colouring was crap and the anatomy out the window, but the stiffness was the most awkward bit

Lol :'D You start from the eyes? :B I used to do that, but I could never manage to draw the head in proportion to the eyes and stuff;; Pshh, your anatomy skills aren't lame l: < If they're lame, then mine's just aethetryjatj.
I have pose envy. I can never think of any good poses! Dx
As for starting my sketches, I usually start by drawing the head. If I can draw the head, I can usually draw the rest to proportion. But I have absolutely no anatomy skills, so everything always looks awkward. ;A;
You're welcome ^^ awww how come? They're adorable and original in style <3
Lol really? Wow that's awsome ^^ I just finished a tutorial on colouring before line art for a friend. I hope they find it helpful.
I am really weird art wise but I learned from a young age that starting from the head can make a pose look stiff. I got frustrated with it as a kid so I use to start from the feet, knees or hips. In my picture of the girl with pink and purple hair and holding the little boys bunny ears, pretty sure it's in my LJ somewhere, I started from her feet and worked my way up and on the little boy I started from his ear, then his feet and met in the middle because I kept drawing him to tall. I forced myself into a limited space ^^ Hope this might be able to help give you other ideas on proportioning? Idk I think I am just rambling now lol.
orz sketching is kinda the hardest part for me so I'm always trying to find new ways to do it x'D Now I try to think of the whole body when I sketch so my first lines might not resemble a human body at all at first...more like direction lines and curves...gah, it's hard to explain in words.

I start my sketches from any point. Knees, hips, foot. Which ever one makes it look natural best.
