This is really beautiful and lyrical. I love the description of River having "all her curls in the middle of her forehead." Of course she's too awesome to be in a nursery rhyme.

Ah, the joy and heartbreak of the timey-wimey life. And this just gave me an aha! moment: She is, after all, an archaeologist: she loves history, both reading about it and observing it, and no less so when it is her own. <3
