Now here, another meme.

2009's roundup)
My favorite story this year (of my own): some mad hope. I have said it before and I will say it again: if I leave this fandom having done just one thing well, I want it to be that I wrote a crazy, bitter, resentful, confused, nuanced Loki who is manifestly not a good dude, and I think (I hope?) that came through in this story. It also became, as it spun along to its dizzy end, a story of all my team!feels, and it sets up for three long projects I'll be writing in 2013: an epic Sam/Steve story o'feels, the Darkest Timeline, and a story with nothing but kickass ladies (to be written with
shadowen :D :D :D). Plus Sif got some really good burns in on Loki in this story, Frigga got to be a badass, and as usual, I utterly cannot with Thor, ever, at all, in any way.
Story most under-appreciated by the universe, in my opinion: two lost souls swimming in a fishbowl, maybe. Remix isn't a high-comment thing, I know, but I was damn proud of that piece and it creeped me out to write it, so, idk. I'm kind of a bitter old queen about my stories? The person I remixed was really super awesome about it, so that part was good.
Most fun story: The Stark Guide (tm) to Mission Reports, co-authored with
sabinetzin. We had no idea that other people would think it was as hilarious as it was to us? But apparently they did. I think I hurt myself laughing about it while we were sending drafts back and forth.
Sexiest story: ain't too proud to beg. I didn't write a lot of sexy stuff this year, it was mostly a year for long plotty bullshit and kidfic.
Hardest story to write: some mad hope. I laughed, I cried, I shouted at my screen, I bemoaned my terrible decision to ever write 32k of actual plot instead of fucking.
Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you'd predicted?: About what I predicted, I think. What's surprising is how I wrote it-- last year I published 90k, all in installments of 2-5k at the most, but this year I wrote longer, plottier pieces. So in list form by titles, it looks like I wrote less, but actually, I published about 20k more than I did last year, at least in fanfic. Adding in original work (but not stuff for work), all told I wrote about 140k in 2012.
Did you take any writing risks this year? What did you learn from them?:
I finally buckled down and decided to actually finish a novel. Eek.
Do you have any goals for the New Year?:
Finish my book! Write all the sequels to some mad hope! Write the awful precanon tragedy of Sif and Loki! Finish Slytherin Field Trip! Write more Who fic in general! Avoid writing the Hogwarts AU!
Happy New Year! :D Now to try and finish this Doctor Who story. :D
