Bit of a rant here.

In which Ellis says Matt Bomer is too gay to play the lead character in the movie version of his book "Fifty Shades of Bullshit Misogyny Gray".  I agree that Matt should not be cast in this movie.  Because he's too good of a person!  ( Read more... )

I don't have anything to add, since I ranted my life away yesterday and prior on twitter. But, I just want to say (clarify?) that BEE is not even the author of 50 Shades. He *wanted* to be the scriptwriter for the film adaptation. Hahahahahaha. Ha. Asshole.

Wow, then he's a triple loser. No book, no screenplay, no class. ;-)

No friends now either, probably, after his idiot tirade on the internet.

YES EXACTLY to all of this. I would hate to see Matt do the 50 Shades movie because I don't want to have to decide whether to see a movie I loathe for Matt's sake or to deprive myself of the Matt because of the content. He's far too good for that kind of crap.

Also, yeah, the Peter/Neal UST goes in both directions and Tim seems to be the model of a heterosxual married man so I'm not sure how his argument works.

Absolutely. If there is chemistry between Matt and Tim, FUCKING GREAT. It doesn't mean Matt can't play het or bi or whatever the hell he wants. I seem to remember Tim in 'Big Eden' doing some pretty convincing seduction of another man. I don't see this asshole all up in arms about THAT.

Even a child can understand the difference between acting and real life. What about vampires for instance? Are we going to look for the real ones in Transylvania??? Oh but they don't exist, so what now? =_= It's just ridiculous. I always feel sad when I read this kind of crap. I didn't read the book and I have to admit, I was curious, but once I found out that it was a trilogy, I gave up, since I prefer invest my money in something better. I may have watched the movie if Matt was cast, (not even sure b/c I don't like going to the Movie Theater), now I guess I'll just move on and forget this big mess.

Yeah, "acting" gets thrown right out the window where gay actors are concerned. It's fine for Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhall (sp?) to get it on in a tent and fall in love but God forbid Matt pretends to be into a woman. He's already pretending to be a con. He pretended to be a stripper. He's pretty damned awesome at pretending -- he's an ACTOR. I'm a slasher, so I love when there's gay chemistry even more than het, but that doesn't mean it isn't there.

This kind of thinking is rampant inside and outside of Hollywood. When Matt came out I was concerned that he would now be shut out of some roles. He is so good at playing the romantic lead that it would be a real shame if he's not allowed to do that anymore. I don't want him to be stuck in the gay ghetto. It's so depressing. (FSoG is going to bomb big time, so I hope Matt stays away from it).

I think the operative word is ACTOR. Matt Bomer is an ACTOR, an amazing actor at that. That means he can ACT, take on any part and portray a character because he can ACT. Rumor had it that the USA network banked its entire profit margin on Bomer's ability to act.

As I recall there were a series of movies called PLANET OF THE APES. I recall Charleton Heston, famous for being in the first movie, not playing an ape, playing one in the last movie. Oh, he also played Moses and John the Baptist and El Cid.

They didn't go looking for vampires to play them. Frank Langella did a fantastic job as did other wonderful actors. Oh, and do they look for serial killers to play those, like Hannibal Lector. I think Anthony Hopkins who has played every single type of character there is would be amazed.

On the other hand, bigotry, homophobia, HATE, has no logic. It feeds on stupidity and ignorance. It sees nothing beyond itself. But it always clothes itself in self righteousness.
