Steel Stilts

Over the course of last year, I'd started to forget that I was a stilter. Now that I've remembered again, I feel much more complete. To that effect, let me unveil the steel stilts that I'll hopefully use in the steampunk cabaret next semester ( Read more... )

Do you have instructions for these? I'm sure the Bard circus would love to get down and dirty in the metal shop for this stuff!

The captions are the best I can offer. If you've got the equipment and someone with any background in metalwork, it should be pretty feasible. I learned everything I know along the way from Charles, the friendly neighborhood metalworker.

(Also need tools and materials, but you can't help with that...)

I'm actually happy trying to make my own version of those, I just have not the first clue how to work with metal or where to get the raw materials in the right forms.

Captions describe as much as I can. I'm happy to offer any more info if there's something unclear.
The steel's from the local steelmill. Your best bet for tools (which aren't particularly cheap) would probably be to find metalworking classes, either freestanding or through a college. If that fails, perhaps you could find someone to apprentice under through craigslist.
