Haven't you seen a doctor about that back of yours?

I hope you get better luck with your next job.

And can't you just post shorter entries more often? :)

I like an occasional long post - do them myself.

And that lamp is super! Want!

Your back pain sounds like mine. They did an MRI and discovered that besides having no cartilege in my verterbrae, the bones rubbed together creating bone spurs that pinch my spinal cord. Back surgery is too drastic a measure. They won't do that unless I lose the feeling on my left side. So I take Vicadin (only when it's bad - Hal takes it regularly and has built up a resistance) and my doctor also prescribed Lidoderm patches, which deliver lidocaine (like the dentist uses) to the area. Mostly I just avoid severe movements.

One point is at the base of my spine, so I, too, can't sit for long periods of time - no more movie theaters :( And besides, theaters don't have a pause button when I have to pee.

Actually doing anything over a long period of time creates problems.

But it's manageable. Without prescriptions I would recommend the thermal patches you get at the drugstore, and super doses of Advil.
