Book stuff

Finally read Hot Target.

To start off, I was moved with the dedication at the beginning of the book. If only every parent of a gay child could be that encouraging and accepting. Kudos to you and your husband, Suz.

I’ve been waiting since for this since the moment I’d heard it was Cosmo’s story. He was/is such a quiet guy that had this mystery surrounding him and I’m such a sucker for a tough, quiet guy. Especially after he’d shed a tear or two when Kelly got hurt in Gone Too Far. It was great to see into his mind a bit and see why he’s so quiet. Knowing he’s just not that comfortable talking or coming up with things to say just makes him that much more attractive to me. (Well, also knowing that he goes commando helps that, too.  :P)

I was a bit disappointed that there wasn’t more to his background, though, like Suz wrote with Sam’s story. Part of the reason I’d loved Gone Too Far so much was due to the extensive background she gave us on Sam.

Jane was good for Cos. She was the chatter to his quiet. I thought things kinda happened quickly, but when you have so much to happen in such a short time there’s not much you can do. But Cos finally found his "nice" woman, and that's all that matters.

But the story wasn’t just about Cosmo, which was great, too. Jules! I love that he was the secondary character of this story. I loved pretty much every scene that included him, and thought Suz did a great job of writing the destructive/confused Robin. I know it will change down the line if Suz chooses to make Robin Jules’ sig other, but I really, really don’t think Robin is good enough for Julesy. In his current state, of course. I know that if Robin is going to be for Jules that Suz’ll make sure that he goes through some profound changes, but in this book he almost hit the pathetic side to me. Still a bit loveable though. (Well, as long as that whole thing with Adam is forgotten.)

And honorable mention of course goes to Deck and Sophia. They had small parts in this, but the hug that Deck gave her when he showed up at Tom’s place and found she was okay made me grin. As did the little naughty thoughts Deck had at one point, remembering what had happened in the last book. Nice to see it’s still sticking with him.  J

Overall I loved the book. I really did not want to put it down. I also love knowing that Max and Gina’s book is next. They are up there with my fave couples that Suz has written.

Our billing system is down all day at work, so I'm soooo bored. And just knowing that tomorrow I'm going to have to do all this work I'm not doing today sucks balls. Bah.
