So I've watched the first 3 eps and I can say that I'm starting to get it. Okay, so it's more than that, (quite a bit more, really), but... ( cut for maybe spoilers? )
Though, Bullock is pretty awesome, too. And I must admit that by the season finale, I'd developed a certain fondness for Al. He's, you know, kind of appalling, but I rather like him. :)
Keith was great as Bill. I was really sad to see him go.
I'm warming to Bullock. I mean, I know he's supposed to be the lead, but I've had a hard time with seeing him in some of the past roles he's played and separating that from the now. The scene with the Indian and his emotion about Bill really got me though.
As for Al, I'm still working on him. I know the role he's supposed to play, but I'm still kinda turned off by how cutthroat he is. That could probably change though.
Bill is just awesome. I actually read the exact same information as you at the exact same point in my viewing schedule and I had the exact same reaction.
And to think that this didn't fully become my favorite show for another handful of episodes.

I can't wait to see what comes then. It's really forming well, this show. Might be a keeper.
