oh believe me, I know! Even as sore and hurting as I am right now, I'm thanking God that I'm alive and nothing is broken. :)

Ow ow ow ow!!! *hugs* You're so lucky that your helmet saved the same thing from happening to your head. Those bruises make my back quiver!

I won't ever ride a horse without a helmet... I did it for years, rode around with no helmet, fell off, knocked my head up and did some minor damage. You couldn't pay me enough to ride without one now.

My back is sore too, but no pretty colors yet. I did have x-rays taken today by my chiro. I have an appt tomorrow afternoon to go over them with him. Hopefully nothing is cracked or injured.

*hugs!*

Yikes! Some major bruising there! Watch the bruises carefully - sometimes large bleeding like that can cause a hematoma - a hard lump under the skin where the blood has dried before it was reabsorbed back into the tissue. People usually just wait for bruises to go away, but ones that large take a very long time!

That just looks soooo painful, hun! Hope you're feeling better soon - and I'm so glad you were wearing a helmet, too. I know more about brain injuries that I ever care to learn again, and you are very lucky.

*hugs carefully*

Oh the hematoma has already been there, done that! LOL! The first 24 hours I was icing it pretty constantly, then after that, I used heat. That really made the swelling go down and drain the blood out, which caused all the pretty colors to go down my leg. lol

I'm feeling pretty blessed considering how bad it could have been!
Thanks hun!

omigod, I'm so glad you're ok!! And you just made me rethink helmets. Westerners usually make fun of people wearing them but man, I think I'd rather look dorky for a couple of hours than be dead or quadriplegic.

Any idea what got into Nero? Man, take it easy for awhile, I think you might've just exhausted your guardian angel. Not easy keeping 900 pounds of flailing horse from breaking something important of yours!

Yeah, my Mom and I were the only people I knew that wore helmets around here for a couple of yeaers. People would ask me why and I would just tell them that if I have one more head trauma, it will probably kill me. Now I can say my helmet saved my life.

Poor Nero... my saddle thumped her in the spine in a spot I didn't know was bothering her. Teresa is the one that figured it out afterwards. A custom made saddle pad is in Nero's future to fix the problem... and a new helmet for me. Given the damage done to my leg, I probably won't get to ride until next Spring. (This girl don't ride in no stinkin snow. *G*)

Thanks babe!
