ok just putting this bullshit in text for my own benefit, but I figured someone might be influenced by it.  Verizon is by far the scummiest company I have ever had the displeasure of doing business with.  So back in December I call them work out what plan I want, how many cable boxes, what needs to be installed, and arrange an installation date.  ( Read more... )

none of this surprises me. I've had to deal w/ verizon intimately with our business services and they've done nothing but make things worse before finally making it better, or they don't do anything at all...example: our office has gotten the SAME notice 4 TIMES this year stating that if we don't sort out something w/ a particular phone line then it will automatically renew and we'll start getting charged for it. 4 TIMES we've gotten this notice, mind you, and it's a phone number WE'VE NEVER SEEN before. Has NOTHING to do w/ our office/business. Every time I get this letter I call and they're like "oh, it's a glitch, you can disregard it." So, I do. Then we get another letter, and I get the same response. Etc. On the third letter, I spoke to a manager and he asked me to fax him a copy of the letter and he'll take care of it personally. GUESS WHAT! 3 mos later, we get ANOTHER ONE. It's been 2 mos since the last letter, which I explained everything I just told you and sent them a fax of the letter AGAIN. let's see if we get ( ... )

I bet I never hear back from them. I find the key to tech support is asking some really specific detailed question with some acronyms that they know and just a few that they don't and then suggesting that its a rather obscure problem and asking them to escalate your call, just remember the first tier is for grandma the second is for mom and the third is where you start to see real techies. Don't mention DHCP to comcast tech support or their script will tell them to get you to buzz off, unless you get a real techie that's willing to bend the rules.

Regarding the T1, have you looked at TowerStream? They mount an antenna on the roof of the building and gives you the same speed and guaranteed uptime. I'm surprised Dave hasn't suggested it to you.

yeah, now that I think of it, he did mention it. thinking on it now, it's actually because the new med system we're using wants us to use Verizon, I think they have some kind of deal w/ them. or something. ;) it's sort of a disgusting mess anyway.
