What makes you laugh?

This made me laugh:

You are the center of every cucumber's attention.

Because it's so nonsensical. There's a new restaurant on the Promenade that serves Earth delicacies, including these things called Chinese fortune cookies, though I have been told by several humans ( Read more... )

The odd humor of Terrans legate_damar February 14 2004, 19:40:13 UTC
Shortly before Damar's death, he and Garak and I were laughing together so hard that I thought I'd torn a muscle in my side.

*smirks*

I remember that moment all too well. It certainly helped to lighten the mood to put it mildly. Reminds me of a saying I heard from Gul Dukat once. "A true soldier always laughs in the face of death".

I don't see how being the center of a vegetable's attention could be harmful or humiliating.

Well that is one thing we have in common. Lack of understanding to Terran culture. Their sense of humour completly evades me. On that note have you had a chance to be 'interviewed' yet? Apparently there it is becoming a trend of sorts. It was started from what I've gathered by a Terran (surprise surprise). You should look into it I think you might find it to be amusing...

...I'd forgotten, for a moment, that you were here to read this. I have not been "interviewed" -- is this another Terran custom? You wouldn't be trying to have fun at my expense, would you?

And Dukat said that? I wonder if he laughed. You'll forgive me if I cannot see him as a "true soldier"; I remember how he fled Empok Nor, how he would have let all those people in the pah-wraith cult die in his name. And now we know how he deceived the Kai...not that she wasn't quite responsible in her own right for her part in it, but it is hard for me to see him as anything other than an opportunist and a coward.

If you must know Gul Dukat did laugh when he did make that remark. It was in the heat of battle when he said it I think he was looking to boost morale (which at the time worked wonders).

Admittedly the more I learn of his actions over the years, the more I realize his mind had begun slipping away long before I thought. As shameful as this sounds I'm little relieved to learn I wasn't the sole reason his mind...shattered...Sometimes I wish I never knew that aspect of him I would rather just remember him as the brillant commander and mentor I once knew...

*chuckles*

No I am not joking at all if you don't believe me feel free to see the questions given to me in my interview. I am not sure the purpose of this interview but everyone seems to be doing it. I suppose its part of some sort of self discovery or whatever they refer to it as. At the end of the interview however we are to give questions to ( ... )

I suppose it would be very interesting to have you interview me. But I should warn you that I won't talk about my family and if you ask my opinion of Dukat's "brilliant" command strategies, well...I am quite sure we will disagree.

Looking back, I think his mind shattered before he lost Ziyal. His obsession with power and his belief that he loved and knew what was best for the Bajoran people...did that never strike you as mad?

Let us just say, good lady, that it would probably be better to be the center of a cucumber's attention than to have a cucumber at the center of your... *ahem* attention.

At least in public.

Ezri has finally explained the cucumber reference to me, summoning Curzon's seemingly limitless store of bawdy humor and...interesting...experiences. I must agree with you. But how did a fine, upstanding naval officer such as yourself come to understand such a reference? *wink*
