Would you choose to live forever if you had the choice? In my current form? There are very few questions to which I can answer, wholeheartedly, "Absolutely not"; this is one to which I can. I've met immortal beings -- the people on the planet where Opaka will spend eternity, for instance -- and I've no envy at all, even if they've managed to make ( Read more... )

But if you were to find yourself cursed to live an eternity what would you do? Would you interact with the younger races or watch from a distance would you travel the universe or remain hidden like a "god in the heavens"?

Personally I would get involved. I can't believe that with all the wonders in our universe that I'd get bored very soon. I suppose after the first few millenia I might change my mind, but by then hopefully I'd be wise enough to know what to do next!

...and aren't you supposed to be dead?? :)

Looks at her oddly as he vaguely hearing about her through the Colonel and Garak before extending a hand in greeting.

Your are Ms. Kassidy Yates, Captain Sisko's wife correct?

I've heard about you through the Colonel but I don't think I've met you properly before. I assume you're from her universe as I am obviously dead there, but as you can see in my timeline I have survived the Dominion war. It's a long story to put it mildly.

Expression briefly gives away that he is troubled by the events that led to his survival but he says nothing of it to her directly.

So you think you would interact with the younger species? Just what would you do? Would you study them present yourself as a god like the "prophets some species? I never actually thought of it myself but I am curious to know what others think.

Yes, I'm Ben Sisko's wife. This Livejournal thing is rather interesting--I keep running into people whom I thought were dead or people who *must* be living in some sort of parallel universe--for example, there are people who claim that 21st century humans had a interplanetary portal system like the Iconian gateways! They call it the Stargate system. I certainly never heard about that in any of my history lessons. (Of course history is written by the victors, but still--I believe our third world war was occurring at that time, and they never mention that.) Compared to that, finding out that you're alive isn't that great a shock.

If only I could communicate with Ben this way...Anyway--you were asking what I would do if I were a higher life-form. I think that I would present myself as a more advanced lifeform but not set myself up as a god. (Don't worry about offending me by referring to the Prophets as anything less than supremely divine, by the way. I can handle that. *laughs*) On the other hand, perhaps a rule like the Prime ( ... )

I've been thinking about the Prophets too, lately. It's interesting how much they've come to mean in my life in the last five years. Strange that they'd pick a non-believing non-Bajoran for the mother of the Emissary's child, but there you have it.

Must get back to my ship, which is just crossing into Cardassian territory as we speak. Just thought I'd say hello, since ezri_tigan_dax had you on her friends list. :)

Maybe this is their way of uniting other races? I won't even bother trying to understand what goes through these beings minds. However it is good to meet you perhaps our paths will cross again.

Looks a little surprised at the mention of Ezri Dax

I wasn't aware how is she doing?

Ezri seems to be doing very well, which is good if you know what she's been through during the war (I now know much more than I ever cared to about Trill symbiosis!).

It is good to meet you. Major, I'm sorry, Col. Kira, and my husband Benjamin have spoken of you before. I know that Kira thought fairly highly of you by the end of the war.

In any case, both ezri_tigan_dax and I are going to be offline for a few weeks (our writers decided to take a family vacation, and have send us off to Risa and a supply run respectively) so I will have to pick up this fascinating conversation later. It is good to meet you.

His expression darkens.

I know only a little of what she went through but in her own way she did aid me in coming to my senses about the Dominion (along with Worf) and for that I'm grateful. But I am glad to hear she is doing well especially in light of everything.

It was a pleasure to meet you as well and I hope to see you soon once you've returned from your vacation.

((Have fun on your trip talk to you laters!))
