Random Bitchy Rant

This may be a bit of a bitchy post, so if you dont want to hear ranting, dont read it.
I have 2 things I need to get off my chest, and I really dont care if anyone reads it or not.

The first is rather short:

Dont talk to me like a child, when I clearly am not.
Its a fucking college class, so I would hope it goes without saying we are all adults.

I've been stewing about the ice all week lol. The day itself wasnt entirely terrible, I just got a email from one of my professors that really peeved me. And then Jess and I went out for dinner, and I guess the combo of entire sidewalks STILL covered in ice, and being cranky from that email, just set me off lol. Figured rather than taking it out on my professor in a lovely email telling her exactly what I think of her, this might be a little better for my Math grade lol. :p

I agree with both points you made here. I used to work at a convenience store, and we stayed open all the time. I always made the effort to go salt the side-walks, parking lot, and out by the pumps. A lot of the time it would take me a few hours to do it as it was still snowing so I'd do it throughout the day. It's one of the things I always got yelled at about to be honest. My thing was not wanting the customers to get hurt, I could careless about if the company got sued.

We stopped for gas the other day, when it was still all icy and shit. The area between the pumps and the door was frozen solid, yet they were open. I hate that shit! Not to metion, let the wrong redneck dumbfuck come flying through there like they do, and kaboom! No bueno

Exactly. I went out to salt the whole area down one day - and only one person works at a time - so people DIDN'T fall, and I fell because there was so much ice. Then, I got yelled at for not being IN the store. Sorry customers are more important than merchandise. The store I worked at was on US 50, so I understand about the rednecks flying through.

I love that you did that because its something I would have done. Nice to know I'm not the only one who cares, although we do seem to be few and far between!

Well I dunno about the sidewalks but where I work, it's part of a shopping center owned by one dude and it's up to him whether to salt the parking lot. Whether we or any other store on that strip is open has nothing to do with him and I doubt he even knows whether or not we're open, but it's his responsibility to salt the parking lot. I don't know if the sidewalks are the same deal but yeah it seems like someone could definitely get out there and throw some salt down!

It's the same kind of thing with colleges - when I was in college they would stay open but all the sidewalks would be icy and the people who lived on campus always fell on their asses trying to get to class! :(

Both the colleges I've been too- one university where I lived on campus, and one community college- shut down or at least delay classes at the first implication of even a possibility of ice.
