Marfan story

Mar 14, 2005 10:28

For anyone who wants to read that Marfan story here's the link. I've gotten some interesting feedback on it, people who knew my dad and shared stories about him, people with Marfan who wanted to talk, old friends from elementary school to read it. It's been a weird (in a good way) day. Leave a comment

Hey. Very well done. Did Pete's parents see it yet?

Pete's parents.... cola_keeper March 14 2005, 08:59:41 UTC
Have I mentioned my beloved boyfriend is a MORON! So his parents go away until Saturday, and Pete spends much of the day trying to get them on the phone so he can explain, at the last minute I might add, that I have this condition. Except that his mother is all like - yes sweetie you told us about that A YEAR AGO. He FORGOT!!! So it was all this panic for nothing.

They called me to comment on the article, and somehow I am having dinner with them next week. Go figure.

Yes, hilarious in that it all worked out in some comedic sitcom format - but the panic we both went through this week was insane. HOW COULD HE HAVE FORGOTTEN HE TOLD THEM. He made such a big thing about not telling them. ARGH!

All I can say is its a good thing he's in Calgary or I'd have beaten him.

Thanks. I've forgotten how much I like to make people cry with my writing. I think the story went well, and I'm pretty proud of it now.

I cried at work when I wrote it. It was very awkward as people kept asking me if I was ok and I was like...yeah sure pay no attention to the fact I look like crap and my eyes are all watery - it's a good sign really.

I've gotten such wonderful e-mails from people, people who are complete strangers telling me stories about my dad (whose been dead 25 years). People telling me all about their lives and their diseases and just people saying hi. It's been so nice.
