Gazetto, you spoil us..

Jul 19, 2012 12:48

I woke up today to find my tlist FLIPPING OUT WITH FLAILS and I knew - I just instinctively knew that PV previews were once again among us >:D  So, I figured I would make a little post about it, since I seem to be doing that whenever GazettE releases something (and it's fun to discuss happenings with you guys :D).

ONWARDS! )

was the use of autotune. It's not even for the fact that it IS autotune

can i just point out that it's... not autotune. It's vocoding or vocal distortion, and neither of them = autotune.

Autotune is the layering of multiple tracks of the same vocals over one another to create a seamless audio, without the minor natural wobbles, cracks and pitchbends that accompany the human voice in song. It's a technique used in every song that is produced nowadays, bar those that are recorded live or acoustic. Even then, recorded acoustic tracks will have some degree of autotune.

What's used here is Vocoding, or vocal distortion. You feed the audio tracks into a program that distorts and digitalises the vocals by playing around with the frequencies.

D: um the more you know? lol i just get annoyed when people mix the two up, since I did three modules on post-production in music tech ^^;

BUT SKIRTING ROUND THAT ISSUE, YES I AGREE WITH EVERYTHING ELSE. It looks to be a good album tbh.

Ah, I'm sorry! I'm not familiar with any technical stuff like that ^^; I hear something a little distorted and I immediately jumble it all into the category of 'autotune' lol. I'll fix that terminology now~

BUT YES. I don't know.. the more I listen/watch, the more my wallet is whispering for me to use it in the most naughty of ways.. *w*

ahah it's ok. I think most people do it unless you actually understand the terms because overuse of autotune can eliminate a vocalists natural properties.

I CAN'T AFFORD IT. SO I SHALL JUST SIT THERE AND WAIT FOR IT TO COME DOWN IN PRICE AND/OR CRY.

I am so not digging the monochrome pv. :c Ruki's voice sounds gorgeous in it, but... um. i like me some colour xD
Derangement looks amazing, pv wise. Though yes I do wish they'd STAY. AWAY. FROM. THE VOCODER.
leave it to the vocaloids. :|||

omg I know :| For all of Aoi's huffing about vocaloid, you'd think they wouldn't touch it xD;

AND NEITHER CAN I. JUST BARELY. I've been debating on just going for it anyways, but .. fdlskajrts money ;n;

And yes, I agree~ The sweet, sonorous sound of Ruki's voice almost makes up for the monochrome. Almost.

ME.
Haha, I saw it and I was like: "...this looks familiar 8| "
But I still love it, just like I loved A9's :D And omg I didn't even think of the DVD cover, but you're totally right *w*

Definitely check it out! I was planning to wait like I did for TOXIC, but.. I decided to throw that idea out the window once my tlist had a collective aneurysm xD

Yay! I'm glad you enjoyed it :DD

The cover is seriously divine. The geisha are so beautiful (but, as beautiful as Aoi/Uruha in their geisha photoshoot? hmmm >:3) and I'm just loving it so much! OMG a poster would be so awesome *w*

I totally understand and I definitely feel the same way. It's hard not to get hopes up because it's all shiny and new, but there's still that lingering feeling of "please don't let this be TOXIC part two D:" That's why I haven't pre-ordered; I'd love to listen to all the previews first before I throw my money at them lol

I really hope Ibitsu surprises us and gets heavier :D AND ALL THE SPAZZ FOR DERANGEMENT. So amazing.

And your English isn't bad at all! Don't be sorry :)

(and of course you can add me, love! I'll add you right back :D)

Cover is... no words! I need a poster of it! xD (Hum.... Aoi/Uruha with their Geisha outfit... they could have used those photos for the cover too 8D)

Yes, I've pre-ordered already, and I feel so scared for it, but... I had money in that moment, and I didn't know if in August I could have money. Complicated. I really hope that DIVISION won't be an another TOXIC or I'll go to Japan and... and... uff. We only can wait, right?

Surprises about Ibitsu would be great, but for now... I'll spazz so hard with DERANGEMENT! My good, i have my hopes very up with that song!! >_<

(Ah! Thank you so much ^^ I just added you as friend)

Yes, yes! It's beautiful in its morbidity, and the use of geisha intrigues me. It's a lovely contradiction - dark elegance vs. a traditional view of beauty. Ohh, GazettE. Always using layers atop layers~

YES, AMAZING. AND AWESOME. AND ASDFGHJKL;.

I hope this continuation surpasses TOXIC despite its shared concepts (and if it surpasses DIM, omg more power to them *A*).

It may be shallow of me to be so concerned with pretty/non-pretty pictures, but I really think album artwork sets the overall tone for what's inside. Ohh, I completely agree with this. I've always thought that concept art was important for albums and DVDs (important for anything really, but especially if it's something that's being sold) because it's the first part that people notice and catches their eye when they're on the shelf. It makes them curious as to what the contents look like, makes them wonder what the image represents (besides just admiring how pretty it looks). And I think they give musicians a chance to put their words into pictures, to prove that they don't just make music, they make art. It gives their work meaning even when someone hasn't listened to the songs or read the lyrics yet ( ... )

Pshh don't apologize, I love essays :DD ♥

...it seems to me that they could be sending a message about Japan's structure.
Oh my god, I love this idea. It would definitely be something they would do too. There are so many possible layers and that's why I adore this band. It's never the easy answer or what's on the surface >:D

This preview, however, has a hard edge, a bit of a bite underneath the melodies.I agree and I also agree that it does have an RTU undertone as well. I guess what will separate it from one or the other is if Ibitsu has another layer to it - something harder, something acoustic (a la RTU) - or if it stays basically one note the entire time (a la SHIVER). I'm hoping for the former because it does sound lovely so far. And yeah.. the PV is alright, but unless there's something unexpected that occurs, I'm with you on being more excited for the actual song than watching it. And with DERANGEMENT's holy-shit-all-the-things-happening-adfghk, I wouldn't be surprised if Ibitsu was more muted overall ( ... )
