“Uh, Colby, you might want to hide. Now.”
“What? Why?”
“Just do it! Go!”
“What the hell, Megan?”
“Edgerton is here, so you really might want to make yourself scarce.”
“Shit.”
“Whoa, man you okay? What’s with him?”
“Oh, uh, you know, had to go to the bathroom is all.”
“Agent Reeves, Agent Sinclair.”
“Hey Agent Edgerton. What brings you back to our neck of the woods?”
“Family business.”
“Really?”
“Megan, what the hell is wrong with your voice?”
“Nothing, David.”
“Have either of you seen Agent Granger?”
“No.”
“Seriously, Megan, do you need a cough drop or something, because you sound kind of like a mouse.”
“I’m fine David!”
“You are such a bad liar. And Colby just went to the bathroom, I think. Ow, Megan, what the hell?!”
“Sorry. Didn’t think you were so close.”
“Ah. I see he told you.”
“Who told us what?”
“Well, he told you, at least, didn’t he, Agent Reeves?”
“I have no idea what you’re talking about, Agent Edgerton.”
“The squeak in your voice and the terror on your face say otherwise, Agent Reeves.”
“Uh, someone want to fill me in here?”
“Not important, David.”
“I ran into my sister last night. She was on a date. With Agent Granger.”
“Damn it.”
“What? Why did I not know about this?”
“Because, the only reason I got it out of him was because I suggested that he didn’t want to talk about his date because it had been either a lesbian or a guy.”
“Ian, hey, good to see you.”
“You, too, Don. You wouldn’t happen to know where Agent Granger is, would you? I’d like a word with him.”
“Ah, no, last I saw him he was at his desk. Hey, Megan, are you okay?”
“Yes, I’m fine! Why does everyone keep asking me that?!”
“Cuz you look like you’re having a breakdown.”
“Look, I just don’t want Colby to die, okay?! Is that so wrong?!”
“What the hell? What happened to Colby?”
“Apparently he went out on a date with Edgerton’s sister last night.”
“Damn it, David!”
“Sorry.”
“Uh, Agent Reeves, I just wanted to return his sunglasses to him. My sister said that he left them at the restaurant.”
“Oh. Uh, I’ll make sure he gets them.”
“Thanks. And tell him that if he does touch my sister ever again I will kill him.”
