priviet!

you point out some very important things that are worth talking about...it is true that the church is full of hypocrites...but you will not find a single group of people on this earth who are not hypocrites...also, the church makes mistakes...

i recommend my page about father alexander myen...he is very inspiring to me...have you heard of him? her was murdered in 1990... http://home.earthlink.net/~amenpage

you can find links to Russian-language sites on my page, also...

I have not read this work by Tolstoy. I am not familiar with the facts about Tolstoy and the Orthodox Church--except that he was "excommunicated" from the Orthodox Church.

But the most important thing seems to me to have your questions answered. That is why I suggested my Fr Alexander Men website, because you will see that Fr Men (or Men') was a very "open-minded" and helpful Orthodox priest--not close minded.

If you are in Moscow, I also highly suggest Fr Alexander Borisov, who is the priest at SS Cosmas & Damian Church in the center of Moscow. He can answer your qustions about Orthodoxy...

Rules such as (a) fasting, (b) when to celebrate Christmas, are not the most important thing about Orthodoxy.

Have you read "Son of Man" (Сын Человеческий) by Fr Alexander Men? That is a good book about Jesus...the Russian text is on this page:

http://www.alexandrmen.ru/books/books.html

I have read the english version and it is very good.

please, read "Resuscitation". it's a big book, but I can reccomend 39 and 40 chapter from first part. it's only 3 pages.

I'm not from Moscow. I'm from Siberia. So I can't ask Fr Alexander Borisov :(
and thanks for the links. I'm reading it now ;)
