[there is a sudden flare of bright green light that nearly obscures everything else from view. as it is, there's still a faint outline of a figure as viewed from below, a woman perhaps? judging by that hair. but the body should be that of a man's

...Kanda.
[It's said softly, a little tiredly (she sees that standard-issue sword in place of Mugen), but mostly, she sounds fond. She's crept through enough of the other feeds to gather an idea of what's going on, and while she's not quite sure how to feel about a second Kanda...
It's another Kanda who isn't dead.]

well, no. that Kanda's here. breaking chairs and things.]
Lenalee. [he hasn't seen that haircut in a while. was it ever that short? how many years ago was this?
he suddenly feels older than he is.]
..You sound tired.

Do-- do I? [She runs a hand roughly over her face, then through her hair, and comes out of it with a smile. An I'm fine, don't worry, brand of smile.] Well, I think that's what happens after three months of sleeping on a half-broken boxspring and mattress.
[Also what happens after arguments, missing buildings and Noah attacks, but those aren't the sort of topics she wants to dredge up right now. Or ever again, really. Given that it seems most everything has already been explained to him:] How-- how are you?

but at least there's long-distance phone calls.]
Is that as good as it gets here? [wow, gee. sounds like this apartment kinda sucks. stupid Credintislkdjfs whatever.
--and just like that, he's ready to lock up again. revert back to old habits that he still hasn't managed to break in the past few years.]
I'm- [fine, I'm fine. this would be simple, usually, but he's not so sure anymore. he used to have reasons to avoid answering, even if they only made sense to himself. not so much now.] ..Not sure.
[that was.. lame.]
Fine. I guess.

[She falters at that little hesitation. It's not like Kanda to answer with something so indecisive.] You only guess?

..It's. [well.] Complicated.
[he won't say he isn't doing fine, because he isn't the type to say that. but he can't say he is, either, because really, when is an Exorcist on a mission ever faring very well?]
Could be better. Don't worry about it.

[At home- or even here, if she hadn't gone through such a rocky patch with her Kanda already- that would have sounded a lot less hurt than it ends up being. She doesn't even know why she's started to take things like that to heart. It's a typical Kanda reply.
Maybe that's it.
She tries to force her tone into something softer. A little teasing, like a childhood friend poking gentle fun. You know, the way they ought to be.] I'll worry if I want to. It gives me something to do. Everything's complicated here.

Kanda may be a bit slow, but he knows when she's trying to be strong, when she's forcing herself to be nice. he notices these kinds of things. most of the time he just. doesn't care.
he's smart enough to know not to make a big deal of it.]
Don't worry about it. [don't. don't worry about him.]

[Glances down and off to the side at something offscreen, then pushes her hair behind her ears. That's a tired motion, too.]
But I suppose I'll just leave you to settle in on your own, then, shall I?
[A sort of. Wry smile. Self-deprecatory, really, since it seems that no one wants her help and anyone that does... she doesn't seem capable of doing much good for.]

[an almost imperceptible nod. but he isn't ending the feed here yet. similar situations have happened back home far too many times for him to just. brush her off again. (or rather, more than he already has.)]
..Do you want me to drop by later?
