I realized that (g)(G)od(s) and Jesus are just glorified (nay, deified) imaginary friends.

People are such children.

Children are small, relatively hairless, and glorified orangutans.

nobody has any idea.

according to reconstructionist judaism, belief in God is "to take for granted man's destiny to rise above the brute and to eliminate all forms of violence and exploitation in human society."

Very good point; I'd neglected that different strains encourage interacting with their deity(s) in different ways.

how many tens of thousands of dollars are you paying for that education?

Good point! Wow! That totally justified you having dropped out to smoke and drink yourself into irrelevance and debt as you live at home with your frighteningly god-fearing parents--that perspective, of having fanatically religious parents, has given you far more education and perspective than ANY accredited university could impart. I now realize that I've been wasting my time and money at this institution. Thank you!

While it is entirely fair to argue that 'college just isn't for me' (as so many 'successful' individuals have done, most notoriously Bill Gates), you've shown that you don't believe that 'college isn't for you.' You're begging the question and insecure about it.

I (and so many of your friends) tried really hard to stay friends with you and help you not be a waste of life, but YOU and you alone let your mother drag you down with her. Deal with it.

I admit to having made mistakes, David. And I appreciate the effort you supposedly made to stay friends with me (though I cannot for the life of me think of an example of this), but you are way the fuck out of line telling me how I should have lived my life.

Also, just to be clear, at no point did I claim that you were wasting time or money, or that the education you are receiving from your reputable institution was moot in any way. It was a simple joke. If you had taken the time to think before getting defensive, you might have realized that I was speaking out of envy, and perhaps holding the one scrap I have left (granted, by my own doing) up to compare to someone who did things right. Clearly I believe that you are far more educated than me.

This inside scoop you have on the events of my life is quite interesting, if incomplete. If you were curious, I wish you would have just asked.
