Well written! It's a very potent story, all the more for its simplicity. There's a strange sort of emotional drive to it--desperation, perhaps, but uncertainty because the Warden is forgetting what he's so desperate for.

I got the impression that he's in Aeonar due to the Calling, as if the Templars got him before he could make it to the Deep Roads. Was that your intent?

Actually, no. The background story I had was setting this sometime after Awakening. You basically had this Grey Warden who had angered the Wardens in the Anderfels by letting The Architect go, and some choices he'd made in the past hadn't pleased the Chantry either. So it was off to Aeonar on trumped up charges the moment the Chantry got their hands on him.
