After reading x many books on the Vong they got boring, and I wasn't really accepting of them in the first place because 1) they were apparently immune to the Force and that seems to go against the general definition of the Force 2) they sound like the Githyanki from D&D.
Here they seem truly alien and terrifying, and the characters have no idea what they are up against.

Yeah, the Force-immunity really got me, and I felt it wasn't necessarily very well-explained. How the Force-immunity worked, I mean anyway. LOL good point - now you mention it, I *do* think of the Githyanki!
Yep. And to make things worse, they're not at all certain they can trust the only (dead) person who knew anything about them...*cough* Palpatine *cough*...
