Today I went to the Trinity site. I was expecting desolation, perhaps a somber memorial, an "it was a necessary evil" attitude. Instead, after driving 2 hours deep into a remote military base, I was confronted with souvenirs, hot-dogs, and the most cliche throng of white, patriotic American tourists I've ever seen. bummer! but the atrocity of the scene you have described is almost as interesting to document as what you had first expected.

its way more interesting. If there was no one there, I would have driven ten hours there and back to see a big plaque in the middle of the desert.
