Trying to do it all

A year and a half ago I started spinning worsted so I could weave a tartan fabric for an arsaid, which is essentially the feminine equivalent of a greatkilt; three widths of fabric pleated into a belt, capable of covering the wearer from her head to her heels.  These are generally a tartan pattern on a white background, so I have a lot of white ( Read more... )

BTW you sold $60 worth of yarn at BI, 3 of the white and 2 of the cochineal. Expect a check from Bruce in the near future, and your yarn is safely at Jack's now waiting for you. Lots of people stopped to admire it.

I'm spinning a nice 2-ply worsted wt Falkland top yarn with Johanna now (pics to come), and will be working on my technique over the winter, hoping to get down to consistent fingering/sock weight or Aran weight at some time in the future. I also bought that BIG ball (1.1 lbs) of New Zealand Romney from the wool vendor next door to Prairie Fiber Guild. It's a nice gray, leaning toward salt-and-pepper. I'll figure out what to do with it once I get it spun up.
