You made me nearly cry. I actually had a lump on my throat as I read this, and that's no easy task. I loved how you described the minor details here, the things that really were so important and meaningful, but to an outsider would seem less so. ‘Sometimes he thinks the night stares back.’ - that line was really beautiful. You capture John’s tone and his voice wonderfully throughout this piece, but the only criticism I have is that the swearing in the narration is unnecessary. John didn't swear in the show, and it doesn't really fit - I think it has to be placed at the right time. ;)
Overall a wonderful, heart-wrenching piece, and I can't wait to read more! Xxx

Hi! Thank you so much for your comment. You know, I think you're right. I looked it over ... and I've toned down one of the swear words, and removed the other. John isn't potty-mouthed that way, and the violent swearwords detracted from the tone of the thing overall. So, thanks for a really useful bit of criticism, and I'm glad you enjoyed it!

This is exactly the type of fic I have been looking for since the finale. I was dying for someone to write John through the stages of grief, and though this broke my heart it was exactly what I needed. Chilling stuff. Really well done :)
