There are aspects of this article that I can and do understand. For instance... having to live your life totally dependant on other people would be a nightmare to me, after having lived my life this long fighting to be as independent as I can be in all aspects of my life. I wouldn't say it'd be worse than death, because with life comes hope, and with hope comes opportunity. Killing yourself ends all hope and all chances to be able to stand on your own two feet again

That's absurd!babydrewSeptember 18 2003, 13:41:30 UTC
I just read that article, and I find it totally absurd, that some people would prefer suicide to incontinence. I'm an adult baby, I have been or most of my life. I have 4 children, and 1 of them is disabled with CP. He was involved in an accident when he was 3 months old, and was declared brain-dead, a week following the accident. Doctors recommended we get him off life-support. We never did. Today, he is a happy 6 yr old boy. Sure, he's in a wheelchair and will forever be incontinent, but I'm very happy to have him, and I know I've made the right choice by NOT taking him off Life-support.
